  • I am always looking for stylish, age appropriate clothing. I'm 56 and enjoy dressing well and finally have the disposable income to spend. Where are the clothes that will fit my rounder shape and discriminating taste? - Marguerite

  • Thought I might find some inspiration for learning how a 50+ woman could dress. Interested in looking the best (of course) I can, to use what I have to my advantage. About to be married for the second time after 18 years of single life. Am looking for a classy wedding look but don't want to be the wannabe-20-year-old bride. Want him to think he made a great decision to marry me. Of course he did! Thanks for any ideas. - Mary

  • I will be taking a trip and doing a lot of walking. What are some stylish yet comfortable walking type of shoes?

  • I don't know how I am supposed to dress. Casually, I wear the same stuff I always have - jeans, t-shirts, etc. At work I try to wear suits but I really like a more casual style. I am 58 and have the thick waist that most 50-year-old women get. I hate it. My legs are okay. It's just that fat middle.

  • We're going to a 5:30 wedding at a New Orleans hotel. I'd like to wear a black lace skirt, pencil-style just below the knee. Can you suggest what kind of top I might wear? (I'm over 60.)

  • I had surgery and lost over 160 lbs. - I am 53 years old for once in my life, I feel like I am 25 again. Also, I am small enough to wear some of the cute summer tops I never could wear before, but the skin on my arms sags so bad, I always wear long sleeves to hide it. I cannot afford cosmetic surgery. Is there any kind of cream or lotion I could use to help? I can't even finance the cost. My husband walked out and left everything behind, including all the bills, so my credit is ruined. Please let me know if any lotion works. If I could just help my arms, I could live with the rest of the sagging skin.

  • I have lines above my lips and what I call marionette lines (vertical creases on each side of the mouth). What is the easiest and best treatment for these?

  • I have been considering having what is known as a Lifestyle Lift. This is supposed to be a safer surgical solution to the "jowls and lines" of the 50+ face. What is your opinion of this procedure? Is it safer? Or is that just hype?

  • I am 61 years old. What is the best outpatient (lunchtime) appearance-enhancement procedure that works and is also economical? Thank you!

  • I read your answer about the marionette lines and was wondering about the costs of Radiesse. Is this more expensive than Restylane?

  • I am interested in getting my neck done, as it is very disappointing to have skin hanging down. I am 60, in great health and very interested in this procedure. Could you give me estimated cost, and let me know how soon I should make any appointment because I would like to do this in September. Thank You, Priscilla, Illinois

  • I have been using the Obaji skin care system for over two years and I love it! Before starting Obaji, I had a very noticeable 'sun spot' on my face. Since using Obaji it has faded quite a bit. Is there something I can add to my Obaji regime to make it fade even more? Thank you! Theresa

  • When I don't sleep, I have a lot of anxiety about the evening. I'm not able to wind down and I end up not sleeping for nights and then have to resort to Lunesta. What are some of your suggestions to stop the anxiety that interferes with my sleep so much?

  • I am very tired early in the evening and go to bed around 9:30 p.m. Then I wake up around 4:30 a.m. which is fine, except I'd like to change my sleep pattern (stay up later, sleep in later) and haven't had much success. I only make myself more tired because I can't stop waking up at 4:30 a.m. How can I change my sleep pattern? Thank you.

  • I was watching you on Oprah today ... My father, 76, has been suffering from severe sleep apnea, which was diagnosed about a year ago. He initially had problems adjusting to the mask, tried many of them, even the mouthpiece that his dentist made. No success - he doesn't do well in tight areas. Finally, after much hard work on his part, he is sleeping with the mask. The problem is, after a year of these issues, we are sure there are other sleep issues going on along with his apnea. As you mentioned on Oprah, there are 88 different sleep disorders. He's had every test in the book, from blood tests to brain scans - all results have been negative. Nothing can explain what he's still going through. He cannot get through the day now; his fatigue is overwhelming. Once a very active man, he has aged so quickly, it's scary, and frustrating for our family and of course for my father. He is not able to work, drive or do anything but stay home. He stands weakly with his head down and his eyes closed. He's so fatigued, he can't even speak at times and has no appetite, and often gets the sweats. This is affecting my mother, who is exhausted, and can't get any rest because my father can't sleep or nap, even though he's exhausted. This is the worst thing I've witnessed. My father has no quality of life and says he can't go on living like this. He's just existing. Any help you can offer would be much appreciated.

  • Each night I fall to sleep - very soundly - right after going to bed. I sleep that way for about 20 minutes and then wake up and can't fall back to sleep for an hour or more. This happens nearly every night and it's annoying. I work full time and have to awaken early in the morning. I have tried going to bed later but can't stay awake much past 10 p.m. and that doesn't seem to work, anyway. I drink little or no caffeine. I would like to go to sleep and stay asleep. Thanks!

  • I've heard that Magnesium Gycinate 500 mg is helpful for sleep. Is this true? I know nothing about it. Thanks!

  • I am 64 years old, probably walk 30 miles a week, do yoga once a week, walk five flights of stairs twice a day, and do free-weights and crunches five times a week. After winter, I always have trouble losing the last two or three pounds for summer. I eat nutritiously and always get confused about whether I should cut back on calories. I try to stay about 900 or 1000 a day. What do you suggest?

  • I'm so glad that Boomerful has added someone with your kind of expertise. I'm sure there are lots of people - like me - that have to make hard decisions. This is a difficult time - moving our parents from their home to a retirement facility. My Mother, especially, keeps saying she wants to go back home. We know that they really can't live alone anymore but we don't know how to convince her of that. She gets sad, then she gets angry with us. This is very difficult. Any words of wisdom on how to convince her that this is the right place for them? It's a very nice facility, by the way, with an excellent reputation. My siblings and I visit often as it's nearby.
