I am 64 years old, probably walk 30 miles a week, do yoga once a week, walk five flights of stairs twice a day, and do free-weights and crunches five times a week. After winter, I always have trouble losing the last two or three pounds for summer. I eat nutritiously and always get confused about whether I should cut back on calories. I try to stay about 900 or 1000 a day. What do you suggest?
Other than your age, I don't know your height or current weight, nor how much total weight you gain over the winter. But I can tell you that
900-1000 calories per day is less than is recommended for a healthy diet. Although you say you're eating healthy, are you getting enough protein, fruits, vegetables and grains? Where do your calories come from? Don't forget to start your day with a healthy breakfast to kick-start your metabolism! I suspect that you might not be eating enough for your daily activity. Often a body will store fat if it's not sure when it's getting the next meal or if there will be enough nutrients! You might want to check out a couple of websites such as www.hungrygirl.com
